Organizer Iran Silk Road is determined to clear the path towards Peace and Friendship. Participants from many different countries actively engage in achieving this goal by running together! During the “I run Iran” events runners and supporters get acquainted with Persian food and Iranian culture.
A Persian marathon
All marathon runners passed by at the Azadi monument, symbol of 2500 years of Persian culture and history. The surrounding streets of Tehran will be for one day the exclusive domain of athletes and supporters. The finish of this first Tehran marathon will be at the impressive Azadi stadium.

This first Tehran international marathon intends to inspire a large, young Iranian crowd to run for fun. The event triggers a campaign for running as an outdoor sport activity. Most sports in Iran are practiced indoor.

This international sport event offers a unique chance to discover the real Iran and its amazing cities. Like Esfahan, the cultural capital of Iran. Also called half of the world because of its 17th century splendour of bridges, mosques and palaces.
Second edition April 2017
Iran opened its Persian gates to marathon runners during the first edition in Shiraz in 2016. The second edition was held in Tehran, 7th of April 2017 with participants from 45 different countries.
